Youth Education

Introducing metalsmithing infused with transferable S.T.E.A.M. and entrepreneurial skills.

Our initiative, in partnership with afterschool or academic programs in underserved communities in the Atlanta area and beyond, introduces sixth- through twelfth-grade students to the art of metalsmithing and jewelry making. Our goal is to align with the S.T.E.A.M. curriculum, infusing lessons in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics.  We plan to motivate and retain students by keeping it culturally relevant and emphasizing the value of a skilled trade.  We will help them sell their products for a profit while teaching them valuable entrepreneurial skills.  To date we have offered a 6-week pilot program in partnership with the Police Athletic League of Atlanta, offering a weekly class to 15 young girls.  We also offered a 3-week introductory series to the boys in their afterschool program.
